Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. However, for a child with Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family members, they had innate talents. Maureen entered this loving haven located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. Her mother, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons placed second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen did well in sports and was a lover of rough play. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. This was demonstrated by her winning pretty much every Feis award for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. At the age of 14, she was admitted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre along with operatic music.
